This looks great, and works well. It is not made of hardwood, but stained pine. The instructions were minimal, and the screws provided were cheap - I would recommend using good wood screws from a hardware store (what additional cost would it entail for good screws? a dollar?). One of the screws broke while screwing it in, by hand as instructions ask. One set of holes were drilled too large for the provided screws. I had to fill them with wood paste, let it dry, then put in the screws. I used gorilla glue wherever possible - as I was not sure the screws would hold very long.The design is cool. It looks good, and works well. The chair/stool idea is great and it works well. The wood however is not oak, not even sure what type of wood it is. Still worth the money. The stain is more like redwood so thats not even close to oak color. At least I have a template and all the hardware if I choose to make my own. For the money, I expected a sturdy stool. This is made in CHINA, which is one strike against it to start with. It is "some assembly" required. It was ALL assembly required, the holes to put it together were not lined up properly, the screws were to small to hold it together well. It is rickety and not at all stable to stand on. I am afraid to use it and since it is to expensive to return it, we will probably use it for fire wood. Sorry I didn't spend more and get a quality product. |
