This is a quality product that has an excellent quick attachment system to whichever side of your ladder that is faced with an uneven surface. No more placing a spacing board of the correct height under one of the ladder feet (always a dicey proposition).Installation took about 30 minutes and required drilling six mounting holes, three on each side of your ladder, to attach the mounting brackets. These brackets don't add much weight to the ladder. When you need to use the ladder on an un-even surface, you then snap on the extender leg to the appropriate ladder side. The extender leg has a spring-loaded ratchet that allows very fine control of the extension length. Once extended to the appropriate length the leg self locks and cannot be retracted until the load on the leg is removed. Once you're done with the un-even surface use, it's easy to remove the leg extender, which weighs five pounds; that is, it weighs enough that you don't want to have this extra... I installed one of these units on a COSCO "21' World's Greatest Multi-use Ladder" that I had purchased locally (also an excellent product). It took about 30 minutes to install with half of that spent on reading the instructions. A second unit could be put on in 15 minutes.The components themselves are mainly thick-walled anodized aluminum extrusions. The leveling rack and spring are steel. Hopefully rust will not be an issue. All parts are well finished and packaged. LeveLok provides a nice selection of quality hardware to allow fitment to a variety of ladders. The COSCO ladder had doublers located such that I had to grind flat edges on four of the six fender washers needed. Not a big deal. This setup provides a very steady working platform on uneven terrain. Adjusting the LeveLok is easy and it is also easy to move from side-to-side or remove completely when not needed. Theground is sloping and very uneven. In the past I would place wood under a ladder leg to steady it. Using a fiberglass 24 foot Warner ladder with Lovelok the ladder was as steady as though it was on flat ground. Switching the unit from one leg of the ladder to the other is quick and easy. These units are great! They are well constructed with a secure locking mechanism. There is great peace of mind knowing the ladder won't fall. The Levelok is worth every penny I paid. I highly recommend this unit. |
