5.0 out of 5 stars my first stilts, January 27, 2008
This review is from: MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line SW218 Skywalker Stilts 2.0 Adjusts 18-Inches to 30-Inches (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love these stilts. They are my first stilts I've ever used so I cannot compare them to standard ones, however I am glad I bought them. They work great when I do suspended ceilings, drywall taping, and whatever else...caulking/painting crown molding etc...
The adjustable front shock is nice because it stays stable and flat until you put enough weight forward to compress it. The straps are handy and work well. The leg padding is quite comfortable. I haven't used them adjusted higher than their lowest position, but the adjustment for height is awesome. Just a flip of the solid lever and slide them to any number of positive stops. Very handy. Would definately purchase again.

I bought these for a small drywall project (less than a house, but more than 1 room) and future drywall projects with the intent to upgrade from using a couple of buckets as my way to mud ceilings and the top part of the 8' walls we have.

I've never used stilts before, so this was a new experience for me altogether. It took me about 30 minutes walking around in them with a staff/cane (6') to assist in my balance before I felt comfortable enough to walk on my own. After I realized:

1) I shouldn't watch my feet
2) to Bend/Lean forward before stepping forward
3) I should be well rested and not drowsy
4) I had to use the braces just above my calfs
5) I had to make sure all straps were tight
6) i needed proper foot placement on the foot stand (1/2" of my shoe heal behind the edge of the foot stand... I wear a size 15... might be different with others... ^_^*)
7) that the smallest irregularity in the floor can cause one to stumble (a... Read more

these are decent stilts but dont really handle the punishement of drywall and plaster well. The height adjustment clips are a pain in the butt and break easy(and can not be replaced!)They are comfortable to wear but feeel as though your drifting backward.I love the straping system and they are light but I will be going back to dura stilts because they last much longer.Ive been finishing drywall for 14 years and my first pair of stilts lasted over 11 years and the person I sold the to still uses them.I ve had the skywalkers for three years and parts were breaking in the first 2 years.
