It is made of very sturdy aluminum so it won't rust or bend. It also connects and disconnects to or from the ladder very easily with just two wing nuts. Two drawback are that the ladder becomes difficult to move around while the top-heavy stabilizer is connected to the ladder and it is very difficult to use on a house corner as each side of the stabilizer has to rest against separate walls. At the top of a 40 ft. extension ladder fully extended I felt like I was standing on top of a 6 ft. ladder!!!
