How to Install a Traverse Curtain Rod
For those of you that don't know a traverse curtain rod uses a simple pulley system to open and close your curtains. Here are some instructions to make installing your own traverse rods a breeze. What You'll Need.Curtain Rod, Brackets & Screws (complete kit).Ladder or Step Stool.Pencil.Power Drill.Screw Driver.Measuring Tape.Hollow Wall Anchors (if needed).Instructions.First off, you'll need to measure your window so you can see where to install the brackets. You must measure an additional 2 inches on both sides of the window frame to allow for the curtains to be stacked when pulled open. The curtain rod should sit about 4 inches above the top of the window.Place your brackets against the wall at intervals of about 40 inches wide.Mark the wall with your pencil where you will need to drill holes for the screws to go in.Do this for all your wall brackets.Using your drill, make small holes for the screws to fit into.Make sure you don't drill them too wide so the screws can't thread in the wall properly. If you aren't drilling into studs then you will have to use hollow wall anchors to make sure your curtain rod is secure.Attach the brackets to the wall by screwing them in place with a screwdriver. You're now ready to install the curtain rod.Just push the rod into the brackets until it clicks into place.Once you have positioned the rod correctly, secure it into place by fastening the cam bolts.Attach the curtain pulley to the wall directly under the cord opening. You can now use the cord to open and close the carriers.Pull the curtain cord until you get the desired length then tie it into a knot to fasten and trim the excess cord.
